Top 10 French Open 2012 Moments

It’s time to wrap up this year’s Roland Garros, which was a doozy,  so here’s my top moments of the 2012 French Open.

1. Rafa is GOAT

7 French Opens confirms his status as best ever on the dirt, beating Bjorn Borg’s record of 6 titles and taking Djokovic to the woodshed in the final. Wildman.

2. Federer’s Numbers

Every match win at this point is some kind of record for The Rog. This time, he chased down Jimmy Connors all-time match Grand Slam wins record.

3. Murraygate

Muzza was up to his old tricks again, incurring the wrath of Virginia Wade no less, with a was he/wasn’t he injured routine. His opponent Nieminen was not impressed either.

4. Goffin the Boffin

This guy looks like the kid that got locked in a school locker by the Jocks, but boy can he play, taking a set off his idol Federer and taking down Stepanek, Clement and Kubot. A lucky loser no more.

5. Another Isner Marathon

If you ever get tickets for an Isner match against a Frenchman, bring a sleeping bag and a portable DVD player. This time around, P-H Mathieu finished the job 18-16 in the fifth. God bless tie-breakers I say.

6. The Italian Job

Andreas Seppi is still 0-8 against Djokovic but he really took the fight to him and is enjoying a career year. Shame he couldn’t pull off the upset but could be the start of more big things for the Italian.

7. This Tsucks!

Jo-Willy had Novak bleeding on the ropes, but still could not knock out the Serbinator.

8. Roger gets Mad

You’ve seen it on YouTube by now, but how could you not be on Federer‘s side, when he told the typically rude French crowd to shut the hell up.

9. Sorry Pico

Nadal apologizes for taking Juan Monaco to the woodshed for a royal beating 6-2, 6-0, 6-0. He must have know it was the Queen’s Jubilee or something.

10. Sorri Youzhny

The ever eccentric Mikhail was so appalled at his performance against Ferrer, he thought he had better apologize to the unforgiving French crowd before getting a heckling by writing ‘Sorri’ in the red dirt.
